Located in San Francisco Bay, the Angel Island Immigration Station served as the largest immigration port on the West Coast between 1910 and 1940. Approximately 500,000 immigrants from 80 countries were processed, detained, and/or interrogated at the site.
ABOUT AIISF
The Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation (AIISF) is California State Parks' primary nonprofit partner for the US Immigration Station at Angel Island, a National Historic Landmark. Since 1983, AIISF has raised over $40 million to preserve the historic site, expand its interpretation, and share the stories of immigrants whose journeys passed through Angel Island, as well as the experiences of immigrants living in the US today.

For all immigrants, descendants, and families, Angel Island is a living landmark that symbolizes diverse experiences of detention, racism, exclusion, hope, and determination. AIISF protects the historic site, elevates its stories, promotes learning, and celebrates the new beginnings and immigrant contributions that define the strength of the US.
